Our Sweet Girl

I wish she was always this sweet. Something about this image reminds me of the Guess ads back in the day.

Emperor Scorpions!

For Mr. H’s Birthday we had Creature Encounters come and the kids (plus the adults) loved it. It was very entertaining and the kids got to hold all the animals they brought. They had scorpions, a tarantula, hissing cockroach, little snakes, huge snakes, and a big old tortoise.

Silly Kids

This is the “cake” Jenn and the kids made for Mr. H’s Birthday. I think it is pretty cool.

52 Week 12 (This is The Place)

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

This weekend we took the youth of our stake up to the This is the Place Heritage Park and did some service. We moved a whole lot of logs by hand cart, weeded, and just some general clean up. The youth seemed to have a good time during the service part of the activity but I think they enjoyed the pizza’s a little more. After we ate we walked over to the new monument for the Mormon Battalion and enjoyed the dedication of it.

52 Week 11 (Island Park)

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

Are you still taking pictures.

Thanks to the Bastians we were able to go and stay with them and some of our other friends in one of Miriam’s friends cabin in Island Park. We had a great time, Lava on the way up, Yellowstone one day, and then just hanging out in Island Park the other day. This is a picture of the kids looking for frogs in the stream behind the cabin. We only saw one little frog but the older boys tell us there were a lot more. Anyway you cant ask for a better sky or place to just hang out. Every time I am in the area I want to move and learn to fly fish. It just looks like it would be so relaxing on all the winding rivers in the area.

52 Week 10 (Our Porch)

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

First Day!

I can’t believe that our oldest just started kindergarten. Jenn pointed out the other day that we have already gone through about a 1/3 of his time at home. Once he hits 18-19 he will be out of here. It is crazy how fast it really does go.

52 Week 9 (Cecret Lake)

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

This thing was huge

This week we took the kids on a hike up to Cecret lake in Little Cottonwood Canyon. If you haven’t been there you need to go. The wild flowers in Albion Basin are gorgeous. The hike was a good distance for the kids and they both made it all the way up and back on their own other then our little girl wanted to be carried up the switch backs right before the lake. The only bad part were the mosquitos, so we had to take our dinner back down to the car to eat it instead of eating at the lake. As we were hiking up this moose was just of to the side of the trail a 100 ft or so and when we came back down he was right in the trail so we had to go off trail for a bit to get around him. The kids loved seeing him and now think you get to see one everytime you go hiking.

52 Week 8 (Granite Flats)

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

Tough Guys

First off I have to admit I didn’t take the picture but I did do the editing.

Jenn’s family had their family reunion up at granite flats this year and it was a lot of fun. We spent plenty of time on David’s Polaris, hanging out at camp, and just plain old having a good time. I did get the chance to scare the pants off Jenn’s younger brother Joel and their cousin Adam with the help of Matt. I wont go into full detail but I will tell you it involved spending about a 1/2 hour hiding in the girls out house trying not to laugh while those two walked around trying to figure out who tapped on the window of the boys out house at one in the morning. The stories they came up with while looking for me are classic. It ended with me jumping out of the stall and yelling at them. Lets just say they were frozen with fear for a bit.

52 Week 6 (Bear Lake)

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

What?

For those of you who may not know we spend a lot of time at Bear Lake. Jenn and the kids spent the whole week up there. Thankfully my parents, who’s house we stay at, don’t mind (usually) that we are up there so much. The kids love it and we have a great time. Now if only the water would stay flat.
